Traditional Japanese Music Performance at the National Theatre
A concert celebrating Japanese traditional music. There will be two concerts: one will present works for the koto, and the other, shinnai works.
The shinnai concert starts at 3 p.m.
There will be five shinnai works performed.
Tsuruga Wakasanojo XI will perform the final number in the shinnai concert, accompanied on the shamisen by Shinnai Nakasaburo (Living National Treasure) and Tsuruga Isejiro. The work he will perform is “Sakura Sogoro”. The portion of that long work that he will perform is “Ko Wakare”, in which Sogoro bids farewell to his children.
