Japanese Traditional Dance performance: Akira Kai


 

Date: Saturday, May 4, 2013 (holiday)
Time: 11 a.m. (doors open 10:30 a.m.)
Place: National Theatre Large Hall
Hayabusa-cho 4-1, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo

Access by subway: The National Theatre is 5 minutes’ walk from the Hanzomon Station on the Hanzomon Line, or 10 minutes’ walk from the Nagatacho Station on the Yurakucho, Hanzomon, and Nanboku lines.

Starting at 11 a.m., many dance numbers will be performed with various kinds of traditional music, including naga’uta, tokiwazu, kiyomoto, and gidayu.

The final work in the program is a new composition by Tsuruga Wakasanojo, Daruma-san, using a text by Yashiro Inosuke. Wakasanojo composed this work in response to requests for new shinnai works that even children could enjoy.
