(from the printed program, March 6, 2021, student recital)
Last March, when I held the first student concert of 2020, the world was beginning to be afflicted by the coronavirus pandemic. People everywhere have been suffering for a year, and the pandemic still continues. My students and I have managed to stay healthy. This past year has been difficult for musicians because the opportunities for us to perform were greatly decreased. However, thanks to your support, I was able to hold the Yukata-kai last September and my annual concert at Kioi Small Hall in November.
This year, as usual, starts with the first student concert. I am also planning to perform shinnai at the Tokyo Festival later this month.
I am still in high spirits and will continue to work for the shinnai genre. My students have practiced hard, without missing a day.
Please enjoy the atmosphere of Edo this afternoon.
